It is inevitable that things change and our dojo is no exception. Some
instructors move out of the city, some go off to college or university or
sometimes life just becomes too hectic to be able to dedicate the hours required
for teaching.
No matter the reason for their absence, we miss them.
Here are some of our instructors that have "retired" from
active instruction.

Sensei
Emilia is a perpetual motion machine. She plays hockey, is a lifeguard, sings, acts and writes.
She is a 2nd degree Black Belt in Karate, and is certified in PPCT and as a Wushu coach. Sensei
Emilia recently won a Silver Medal in Sparring at the Junior Olympic games in Des Moines, Iowa
as well as a Bronze in Kata and a Bronze in Weapons (Bo). Sensei Emilia co-taught the Kakudan
Kickers program with Sensei Carley and taught senior children’s Karate and Bo staff. She has
now left us for Concordia University in Montreal where she is studying Concurrent Education and
Arts. She is preparing herself for her 3rd degree black belt this May and also doing some
Capoiera (in her free time). We can’t wait for her to come home! Watch for her name up in
lights one of these days soon.

Sensei
John has a passion for the Black Belt that inspires all of his
students. Sensei John prepared our brown belts and first
degree
black belts for their big grading. Famous for his impression
of
Mount Vesuvius, every Black Belt here has a “Sensei John”
story.
His classes were tough, but his students loved the challenge and missed him
when he was travelling or taking a well deserved break!

Sensei
Marc is the strong, silent type. A passionate martial artist
and
stickler for detail, he taught sparring and katas to adult students
from intermediate to advanced. Pioneering the Brown/Black
class
to allow the brown belts a taste of what’s to come, he was always
finding new ways to inspire and keep his students on their
toes.
Sensei Marc began training in Karate in 1997 and received his Shodan in
2000. He earned his 2nd degree black belt in 2005 and holds
sashes in Ving Tsun.
